Interschool Athletics Carnival 2024
The ASA Interschool Athletics carnival was held on Wednesday 4 September in Paraburdoo for the Jumps and Throws and on Friday 6 September at NTPPS oval for the Athletics and Team Games. All students did their best at all the events, but unfortunately NTPPS fell short by 6 points to retain the shield, going down to Tom Price Primary School. Congratulations to all the winners on the day.

Principal Report
Our carnival season for 2024 has now come to an end, with our Interschool jumps and throws and athletics carnivals both taking place last week. All our competitors did an amazing job and had fun in the process. It was great having Tom Price and Paraburdoo Primary School’s visit our school on Friday to compete in running races and team games. Unfortunately, we were 6 points shy of taking out the title, with the shield going to Tom Price Primary School. Our students all showed great sportsmanship and resilience on both days and should be congratulated on their performance. Thanks goes to Mrs Robinson for organising these events and all the staff that attended the carnivals.
We welcome Mrs Clarke to Room 10, to teach our Year 1 students for the remainder of the school year. Mrs Clarke has already made a huge impression on our little ones, and we can’t wait to see their progress over the next few months. Thank you to Miss Jaggard for stepping into Room 10 while we searched for a replacement teacher.
Today was “R U Ok? Day” where students were encouraged to wear yellow and participate in some fun activities where we focus on students choosing their own journey while navigating feelings and choices. We reminded students that its ok to ask, “R U OK?” and it’s ok to not be ok, because then there will always be someone to help you.
As a school we have been looking at adapting our LOTE (Languages Other Than English) program in 2025. It is mandatory for all students in years 3-6 to participate in a LOTE program. For the past few years our students have been learning Chinese, with their weekly lessons streamed live from China. To coincide with other schools in the Pilbara, we are proposing that from 2025, our school will adopt AUSLAN as our LOTE program. We feel that this would be more beneficial and inclusive for all students. If you would like to add comment to this proposal, please feel free to contact me via email or come and see me.
This newsletter is the last one for term 3, I’m not sure where the time has gone!
We have a very busy term 4 planned with all students from Pre-primary to year 6 being offered swimming lessons, our much-anticipated year 6 camp, student leader elections and our year 6 graduation celebration. Not to mention some exciting incursions planned and transition day to the high school for our year 6 students.
I would like to wish all families a safe and relaxing holiday and I look forward to seeing everyone back to school on Tuesday 8th October.
If you have any queries about what we do at the school, please let me know either in person, or by email on fiona.lister@education.wa.edu.au
Kind regards,
Fiona Lister
Acting Principal
Assemblies
Room 4 Assembly - 8 August 2024
Term 3, week 4 we performed our classroom assembly. We learned about the power of determination and how it can help us conquer any obstacle. We explored famous people who have overcome significant challenges to achieve great things such as Walt Disney, Einstein, JK Rowling and Steve Jobs. We also performed a dance to the inspirational song Eye of the Tiger. Room 4 are very proud of their performance.
Room 15 Assembly - 22 August 2024
Our assembly item was our favourite Go Noodle “Whomp there it is”. Go Noodle is a program that we use during brain breaks. Brain breaks have been shown help students focus, reset, engage children, and increase their motivation. They have fun dancing and moving along and collect points to upgrade their monster avatar. Congratulations to Room 15 for an amazing assembly.
Room 10 Assembly - 5 September 2024
Last Thursday, Room 10 performed one of their favourite brainbreak dances by the very cool DJ Raphi. Throughout the year Miss Porter has given her class a few minutes when needed to shake out the wriggles and reset their focus. The DJ Dance has been the top dance is perfect for this. We hope you enjoyed the awesome dance moves by the little groovers in Room 10.
