Lads We Love - 13B & 15
CoRE Resource Challenge and Showcase
All the Year 5 & 6 students met at the TPHS to participate in group challenges that would enable them to experience ‘Pit to Port’ within the mining industry. Using teamwork, precision and speed, teams constructed an open pit that consisted of tunnels to then haul three ore bricks from the centre out to the end. With their adrenaline pumping they assembled a mock railway and crushed the ore, loaded the carriage and raced it to port. For the finale they were timed while unloading the stockpile onto the bulk carrier, weighing the ore to determine it’s worth and then loading it onto the ship. It was high stakes all the way! After all that, they then dismantled and cleaned up their sites like pro’s. Our students had a lot of fun, they were extremely well behaved and displayed great sportsmanship. It was a fantastic day, and we were so proud of them and their efforts.

Principal Report
As we head into the 2nd half of term 3, we reflect on the excitement that has already occurred this term, and the achievements of all students. Whether this be winning a ribbon at the jumps & throws carnival, receiving a medal at the faction carnival, or beating your personal best score in a spelling or maths test, these are all great achievements that are to be celebrated.
A big congratulations to all our students who recently participated in our sports carnivals. Both carnivals were run successfully, and all students gave it their best. Well done to our champions and runners up, we look forward to seeing how everyone goes at the Interschool carnival in a few weeks. Thank you to Mrs Robinson for her efforts in organising such events, and a big thank you to all our parent and high school helpers on the day. Such events cannot run without the help of others in our community.
This week we have had our greatly anticipated annual book week parade, with a huge range of books and some amazing costumes. I especially loved seeing the costumes that have been handmade, it shows how much love and dedication goes into these events. Well done on your creative skills.
Planning is well underway for the 2025 school year – taking into consideration that we still have our year 6 camp, year 6 graduation and 2 lots of swimming lessons planned in term 4. If your child will not be attending North Tom Price Primary School in 2025, can you please let us know ASAP either by email or phone, so that we can plan accordingly.
24th OCTOBER 2024
Save the date in your calendar!! We will have our annual Open Night on Thursday 24th October. This will also coincide with our annual book fair. More details to follow next term.
If you have any queries about what we do at the school, please let me know either in person, or by email on fiona.lister@education.wa.edu.au
