Newsletter Issue 1 - Term 1 Week 1
Welcome Back!

Dear Parents
Welcome back to 2025. We are so excited to have a fully staffed school, and we enjoyed such a smooth start with children settling in so well on Wednesday. Welcome to our newly starting students across the school, and to our kindergarten students who began their schooling journey on Wednesday and Thursday of this week.
Leadership Team
We have a relatively new Leadership Team, and we are excited to be serving the Tom Price Community. Please feel free to make an appointment if you need to see us about any ideas, questions or even concerns you have about our school or your child. If it is urgent – please come to the office and one of us is usually available to assist. We have Ms Hill and Mrs McCrystal returning this year in the Principal and Deputy K-2 roles respectively, and Mrs Andrea Griffin has taken on the role of Deputy Years 3-6. I would like to thank Mrs Bootsma for the work she has done in her capacity as Acting Deputy Principal, and we are excited to have her in a new role as our Engagement Teacher for 2025.
Parent Communication
During the year, we will communicate to families via the following formats:
- Connect (please see office staff for assistance if you cannot login) Whole School
- Classroom Based connect pages – teachers will provide classroom-based information, timetables, photographs (you can expect a fortnightly update from families)
- North Tom Price Primary School Facebook page – quick messages and updates
- Website – currently updating this information to ensure it is current and relevant
- Email – specific information from classroom teachers, individual staff members relevant to your child/family (please note teachers will respond within 48 hours – if it is urgent please phone and leave a message at the office)
Breakfast Club
New to our school this year is Daily Breakfast Club. This is run from 7.30 – 8am in the activity area near the Early Childhood block and adjacent to Room 11. Students can enter via the double doors facing the Kindergarten building. This is a great time for children to enjoy a variety of breakfast foods, socialise with friends and teachers and learn some independent skills.
Open Morning
This year in place of information sessions we will be holding a ‘Meet the Teachers’ Open Morning Breakfast on Thursday 27th February from 7.30 this will be an opportunity to come together as a community, tour your child’s classroom and enjoy a bit of brekky. We will be sending the details of this event next week – so pop it in your calendar.
Year 6 Parent Information Session
Year 6 Teachers will be holding an after school information session for Parents in Week 3 to outline all of the amazing events and activities for our Year 6 students, including Camp, Graduation, Special Opportunities. Wednesday 19th February at 3.45pm in the school library.
Whole School Reading Program
This year we are introducing the 200 nights of Reading program. Every child will receive a reading log and are encouraged to read at home every night. In Early childhood, this would include you reading to your child.
Every 25 nights, children will receive a certificate from their classroom teacher and a special prize once they reach 100 or 200 nights respectively.
Keep a lookout for your child’s reading log over the next few weeks.
We are looking forward to seeing all the students receive their reading prizes this year.
“The more that you read, the more things you will know. The more that you learn, the more places you'll go" - Dr. Seuss.
If you have any queries about what we do at the school, please let me know either in person, or by email on nicole.hill@education.wa.edu.au
